“If you want an unbiased opinion ask our previous clients, their friends and family, our colleagues, etc. As for my opinion, well, Sara is my wife, the love of my life, my best friend, my fountain of inspiration, and well, my hero. Since the first time I saw her work many years ago I knew right away it would be a privilege to be offered the opportunity to work along side her. Of course I admired her right away but it was astounding how much my admiration grew every day – still to this day. I’m amazed by how she makes time to continually study photography while also being an outstanding mother, wife, friend to many, and so much more.
Beneath her fun loving sarcastic personally, Sara is one of he most kind, caring, and decent human beings I’ve ever met. I believe all these traits are a huge part of what makes her an incredible photographer. Because people feel like they can be themselves around her; as well as how she brings out the best in said people – what shows up in her photos is truly beautiful. I feel so honoured every day to be her work partner and partner in life.”
I think he loves me. Now here’s my auto-bio from ages ago:
Oh hi! I’m Sara.
I guess I should start off by making myself sound cool and accomplished:
I’ve shot upwards of 130 weddings, most of which have been in the GTA/Durham Region/Northumberland County, however I’ve gone as far as (here’s the cool part) Barrie, Ottawa, Maryland, Virginia, Colorado, Cuba, Punta Cana, and Australia. Yeah!
In 2012, I won the “Photographer of the Year” People’s Choice Award in Northumberland County. So that was cool. I spent the 2013 season with a baby in my belly, so it had to run a little bit slower — but I’m back, and feeling more inspired than ever.
Now onto the Sara-Tanner-Nitty-Gritty.
I’m a little unorthodox. A free spirit of sorts. I don’t know how to be stuffy. I’m only serious when I really have to be. Some of my clients have dubbed me the “Photo Ninja”, ’cause they often don’t even see me during their ceremonies and are pretty confused about how I got the shots I did given that they didn’t even know I was in the room (**this did not apply to 2013 however — ain’t nothin’ stealthy ’bout a big pregnant lady).
I’m chatty. Really chatty. And tall. I cry when my couples write their own vows, during the parents’ speeches, and sometimes during the first dances. Are you looking at this and thinking, “gosh, she doesn’t sound very professional”? I’m a little different in all situations depending on my clients and surroundings, but generally speaking, when I’m working I’m less concerned with oozing professionalism and more concerned with getting the best shots I can. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not the type to get super drunk on the job and start dancing on the tables (though if you want me to party, I might party). But by the end of your day you’ll probably feel like we’ve been friends for a good while. I can happily say that I’ve yet to disappoint, and I’ve developed close relationships with several of my past clients! Yeah!!
I don’t advertise, so all of my work comes from referrals. Of course, being myself, I’m biased about what it’s like to have me shoot your wedding ’cause I’m pretty much always having fun. But I’m guessing that if I weren’t good to work with, I wouldn’t be getting so many kind words and, subsequently, referred clients! Mat, my second shooter/partner/husband, is gloriously fun and talented as well.
We’re a good time 🙂 promise. Oh, and here’s me’n’my kid, pictured at the zoo in Perth, Australia in March 2014.
