Our first (certainly not last) Brooklands Farm Muskoka wedding! Cory and Aziza decided to get married at Brooklands Farm in spite of being a couple of urban city slickers. These two opened the amazing Urban Bulk Emporium a year ago and their stock is pretty dang sweet. Go there, buy the organic unsweetened dried mango and wrap it around a couple of pieces of the toasted coconut. You’ll lose your mind. Best weirdest dryest burrito ever. When Mat and I visit the mango and toasted coconut never make it to our cupboard at home. It’s a very delicious drive home from Toronto.
But I digress.
I’ve known Cory since I was a wee lass — grade 1, in fact. He was always one of the “nice boys” in the class. You know, the quiet ones that are sweet to talk to and never mean to anybody. He turned into a successful, cool tattooed finance guy with a tattooed girlfriend with a really hard-to-guess ethnicity (I love knowing where peoples’ blood roots are, okay?! not in a racist way, I swear). I could tell that these people were definitely cooler than me, so, like, I was SOOOOO excited when Cory asked if I’d be up for doing this wedding. HECK. YES.
Aziza laughed about how un-hipstery she is and yet how much the wedding decorations and venue 100% turned into a pinterest-wedding-board-come-to-life. For my photog friends, I also happened to be in a moody VSCO-worshipping kind of mode when I shot this wedding, so, like, it couldn’t be more “Muskoka Wedding”.
One final thing — Cory and Aziza seemed REALLY happy with how the wedding went and that is amazing amazing amazing, so I’m not suggesting that anything was bad in this particular instance. …But as a crusty ol’ photographer who gets upset when we don’t get the shots I feel like we need, I found myself losing my mind with the amount of “plugged-inness” that happened during the ceremony. When you get to the photos that Mat got of Cory’s face as Aziza came down the aisle with her dad, you’ll understand my frustration. Tablet and phone photographers galore, plus a few uncles with really big DSLRs. It hurt our souls a little bit to have to struggle so much to get clear shots of the happy couple without also getting the backs of 100 phones and 10 other photographers. Still killed it tho. Boom.
OKAY, HERE ARE THE PICS! PARTY ON, DUDES.
